Cycling And Wildlife safaris

DETAILED ITINERARY

DAY 1: ARUSHA/MESERANI

Starting from Arusha Airport, we cycle a route heading west towards the Monduli mountain range. Open farmland leads us past the foothills of the mountains. The earth here is known as 'Black cotton' and is very prone to erosion. We weave through various small valleys and Masai homesteads as we traverse the foothills. We will be carrying a packed lunch to re-energize at a convenient point on the way. Our end point for day 1cycling will be at Meserani Snake Park. Hometo a number of reptiles, of course, Meserani Snake Park is a true Tanzanian legend. We load our bicycles in the escort car and we drive up to Makuyuni going forth to Mto Wa Mbu.Our night will be spent at Kirurumu tented lodge OR Heaven nature campsite.

 

Day 2  Mto Wa Mbu Village Cycling around Lake Manyara

Departing from the campsite /lodge we cycle around Mto wa Mbu village and the famous Lake Manyara National Park. We cycle close to the southern shores of Lake Manyara and will almost certainly spot some game here – zebra, giraffe and wildebeest.The Rift Valley wall is in sight all day as we cycle through a number of Maasai homesteads. Possible sightings of wildlife as we cross over the open plains. We have our packed lunch under an acacia tree during the heat of the day before cycling on and arriving into our lodge late afternoon.Dinner and overnight at Kirurumu tented lodge OR Heaven nature campsite.

 

Day 3 Mto wa Mbu to Karatu

Early morning we get back on our bicycles and cycle up to Karatu town with escort car behind us.Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro farm house lodge OR Kudu campsite.

Day 4 Activities around Karatu Town

Activities around Karatu town such as a short/long walking safari, a tour to a local market, a short walk to the coffee plantation and rice farms or even a visit to the local villages where you get to learn on the history of Iraq (Mbulu) inhabitants who owe their origins from Ethiopia. We can also extend cycling up to Ngorongoro Conservation Area main gate and back. This is perfectly suited for cycling enthusiasts. Dinner and overnight at ngorongoro farm house lodge OR Kudu campsite.

Day 5 – Safari to Serengeti

Off our bikes and into four-wheel drive vehicles, we explore the natural wildlife sanctuary of the Serengeti; the wildlife here is truly captivating. This will be great time and experience in your life.After breakfast you will take your way to Serengeti national park heading in a northwesterly direction. Head up the winding, switch-back road and into the Ngorongoro Highlands continue to the Serengeti national park (endless plain) for evening/sunset game drive before heard to your overnight at camp. dinner and overnight at Serengeti wilderness tented camp OR Pimbi campsite.

Day 6 – Serengeti Park.

This morning you’ll awaken instead to the calls of the African dove or superb starling.  From the comfort of your Tents you’ll smell the luscious scents of hot tea and fresh coffee beckoning you to greet the dawn; the majesty of the Serengeti waits!  As you sit comfortably on your camp, sipping hot drinks and watching the day break, you may even spot giraffe or zebra grazing in the distance.  After breakfast you will begin your quest to discover abundant and fascinating animal behavior in the park.

Later this morning you’ll continue your wildlife viewing for the rest of the day, stopping to enjoy a picnic lunch at your leisure.  Upon your return to camp this afternoon you can relax in the tranquility of your room as you reflect on today’s activities; your exploration of the heart of the park has been both informative and adventurous and you’ll relish each moment in your unique surrounds.  Few travelers ever have the privilege of seeing, “the world as it was in the beginning.”  Under your dining area, hot soup, fresh bread, entrees and a scrumptious dessert await your evening indulgence.  Retire to your camp after a full and satisfying day. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti wilderness tented camp OR Pimbi campsite.

Day 7 – Serengeti park/Ngorongoro crater.

SUNRISE game drives start at 06:30am till 11:00am.  When you’ll stop for Brunch (Breakfast and lunch put together) After Brunch departs for the Ngorongoro Crater with game drive en-route. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Sopa lodge OR simba Campsite.

Day 8 – Ngorongoro crater/Arusha.

Rise early for breakfast before you spend a fully day exploring the crater floor.  The area is world-renowned in its reputation and very small in its scale, so you will see other safari goers. Don’t let that distract you from the beauty of the place or from the fact that this remains one of the only places on earth where you may see all of the Big Five at once: Lion, Leopard, Bull Elephant, African Buffalo and Black Rhino.  To maximize your time on the crater floor you will enjoy a special boxed lunch at a scenic picnic spot. Your journey will take you throughout this tremendous landscape that is constantly changing as animals move to and fro in search of pasture, water or east prey. In the evening ascend to the rim and drive back to Arusha town for your dinner and overnight at Planet lodge.
